In the past year and a half, we’ve all experienced a heightened use of digital products for just about everything in our lives. Ordering groceries, reading books, bingeing TV series… the list goes on. So the expectation of giving users the best possible experience, on all devices, is more important than ever.
While our platform has always been easy-to-use on any and all devices, the increased need for better accessibility and simpler browsing experiences has always been something to improve upon. With our new UI improvements, users will experience cleaner, simpler design throughout all aspects of the platform, from browsing to consuming, and beyond. You’ll see our content tiles and details pages have been updated to put the content and metadata first, removing unnecessary design details that may have gotten in the way previously. Our icons, graphics, and fonts have been updated to match our softer, more modern look. And accessibility as a whole has improved with the contrast of colors, font choices and sizing, ability to navigate around the screen with just your keyboard, and a larger emphasis on actionable items; just to name a few.

Beyond the much-needed UI/UX and accessibility improvements, we’re also excited to share that we’ve launched an Audiobook player. Built on our existing audio player, we’re now able to offer Audiobook support, complete with chapters, playback speed, and more. We’ll continue to improve this experience as we go, but could not be more thrilled to have this feature on our platform for our library partners and their patrons to enjoy, especially with the additional support it offers in powering local music projects.
These major improvements and feature additions come as part of an ongoing effort to improve our end-user experience and provide libraries with a simple, accessible way to discover unique local content. As we continue to introduce more improvements to our tools, we look forward to hearing from our library partners on what we can do to help facilitate your community engagement goals. Watch this short video for a behind-the-scenes look at the new interface.
